Description

In audio gamehub, developed by Gamification Lab of Leuphana University Lüneburg, you can play eight various arcade games by using only audio on your smartphone.
The mini games are completely made accessible for blind and sighted people and still fun to play. Sighted people can also take off the visuals to ‘experience’ it the way blind people do.

The following arcade games are currently playable:
Slot Machines
Archery
Hunt
Samurai Tournament
Samurai Dojo
Labyrinth
Memory (Animal Farm)
Blocks (Bejeweled)

The games are instructed before you play and you can recall about this at any time. The games are simple to play and the sound effects sound nice and subtle. You have eight games to switch in between and the rewarding sounds invite you to continue play on and break your previous high scores.

Reviews

  • As being deaf by one ear myself, I found some troubles playing some of these games where the audio is only sent to my deaf ear, such as in memory and labyrinth.
But also as a sighted person I got bored fast of playing this game due the low activity on the screen and visual appearances.

However, I do like the function to “blind” your screen and challenge yourself to play the games this way, grow immersion of how it is like to be blind. I am just unfortunate to not being able to tell where sound comes from which prevents me from playing some of the minigames in here and therefor this ‘accessible’ game is not completely accessible.
