Here Comes the Duck! International is a multilingual game for toddlers, age 1 to 3 years old. It speaks in English, French, Spanish and Mandarin. The game is playable on Windows computers.
The child is told to hit any key. When a key is pressed, a picture of an animal comes up, the animal’s name is spoken and the sound the animal makes is played. This is repeated until, at random intervals, the Duck appears and all the animals run away. Then it repeats again.
It is a cause and effect game, and, like the Jack-In-The-Box, has an element of surprise. The animal sounds are fun for the child.
The game is fully voiced so it is accessible to blind, visually impaired. Since the game is intended for children who can’t read, and there are illustrations, it is accessible to the deaf. If a child can access the keyboard or press a single button, it is accessible to motion impaired since no precision is necessary and more than one key can be hit at the same time. Given its simplicity, it is accessible to children with intellectual impairment.
