3d games, how accessible is that?

Darkworks will this year produce 3d games on consoles and regular 2d displays. They do this by post-processing the existing 3d data into 3d images. Special glasses then render the 3D data with true colors and sharp images. Unlike the red-and-blue anaglyph of the past. The images can also still be seen in 2D without glasses. Games can be enjoyed by everyone in the room with or without glasses seamlessly. How great is that?

Free downloadable rythm game for the blind (and all)

Dutch Tobias Bosma made a free downloadable rythm game ala Dance Dance Revolution that you can play with your keyboard or with a "dancepad". The game itself will explain you how to play it.

Playmancer EU project deliverables available

The EU-funded PlayMancer project is using existing 3D video gaming engines to develop innovative ways of interaction between the player and the game world. The project is focusing on supporting the development of universally accessible games so that players of all abilities can use the games, especially for physical rehabilitation.

Oooooh, we did not make it into any of the Top 25 List of websites for impaired gamers. This is due to a violent malware attack we suffered. All problems seem to be solved now but naturally we are inconsolable. We put a dedicated editor on the forum since October to help ban all the spam messages and help revive discussions. So...ok, we are not first. We pledged a few tears, but remember, there are more than 16.000.000.000 other websites and forums and how many of them can say that they are the number 4 in the world for gamers who are blind, or the number 7 for gamers who are motion impaired.

The news is spreading fast. According to game websites, Ubisoft will add subtitles to all their games produced in-house. They announce that this includes modifying existing games and game engines.

Working against spam

Lately, we have been visited by many people who think this forum is about selling shoes. Maybe they should invest in nice interactive and accessible shoe games. We installed an extra filter, updated the forum and I check for it every evening. For people receiving RSS feeds from the forum it is a nuisance. Sorry for that, but regrettably the spammers are very inventive. Maybe we should do a consumer action like not buying shoes anymore from now on? Or ask a shoe company to sponsor us all.
