Universally Accessible Games Activity logo Universally Accessible Games Activity Within the Universally Accessible Games Activity, the development and design of games that are accessible for everyone is researched. The project is conducted the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory of ICS-FORTH in close cooperation with the Centre for Universal Access & Assistive Technologies.

Sudo-San illustration Sudo-San Sudo-San is the first online accessible Sudoku that features a graphical interface and an extensive auditory interface, enabling blind players as well as sighted players to play Sudoku.

Wheelkid illustration Wheelkid Wheelkid is a game for children in a wheelchair in the age of 3 to 6 years in order to help train the childrens' control over a wheelchair. The game can be customized to the needs of each individual player, such as the type and brand of the wheelchair that the child uses in real life, by which specific settings in the game are adjusted.

Agrip illustration AGRIP The project "Accessible Gaming Rendering Independence Possible" was started in May 2003 and aimed at making a mainstream first-person shooter game for the sighted - Quake - accessible. It was founded by Matthew Atkinson and Sabahattin Gucukoglu.

Demor illustration Demor Demor is a location based 3D audio shooter. The visually impaired player can depend on a GPS-satellite system and play a real-life game based on audio!

Doom3cc illustration Doom3[CC] The Games[CC] project released an MOD for the popular Doom3 game, enabling accessibility to auditory disabled gamers. It includes a visual radar that hints the position of the sound sources.

Terraformers illustration Terraformers The Terraformers project is one of the first games that aims at investigating how visual 3D games in particular can be made accessible for marginalised groups, in a similar way as there are guidelines for web page accessibility.

Tim & Blindstation logo TiM Research Project & BlindStation TiM (which stands for Tactile Interactive Multimedia) is a research project funded by the European Commission within the IST Programme. The aim of the TiM project is to provide young visually impaired children, with or without additional disabilities, with multimedia computer games they can access independently. BlindStation is a game platform that was developed within the TiM project.

Blind Games illustration The Blind Games Software Development Project The goal of the blind games project is to research a design process using techniques to make a game that is fun and educational for blind children at public schools.

Drive illustration Drive Drive is a racing game for visually impaired gamers, demonstrating the development process of a game that is totally based on sound. The Drive demo has been released in 2002 and is still being played over a 100 times a day.

Ilbo illustration Ilbo The Ilbo project delivered a user interface for playing a game and a customized game for one person. The input device contains a large chair that is attached to a pressure sensitive plate. This enabled a gamer with a learning disability to play a racing game by moving the chair's centre of gravity.
